Getting started
How do I start an interview?
Open Callback, sign in, and choose Start a new interview. You will be guided one step at a time: select the role and company you are preparing for, the interview stage (recruiter screen, hiring manager, and so on), and a difficulty. You can also paste a job description or your résumé to sharpen the questions, or choose try with sample data to jump straight in. When you are ready, the interviewer greets you and asks the first question — just answer out loud, like a real conversation.
Do I need a microphone?
Yes. Callback is a spoken, back-and-forth interview, so you answer with your voice. Your browser or Mac will ask for microphone permission when a session begins — allow it, and you are set. If it is blocked, enable it in your browser's site settings, or on macOS under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, then start again. You can pick a specific input device under Settings → Sound → Microphone.
What about my camera?
The camera is optional and off by default. If you turn on Camera awareness (Settings → Interview), Callback uses it only to read simple facial cues — like when you are about to speak — so the interviewer interrupts more naturally. This runs entirely on your device; the video is never recorded or uploaded. You never need the camera to practice.
Your results
What does my score mean?
After each interview you receive a report with an overall score from 0 to 100, a short verdict, and a competency breakdown (communication, product sense, and so on) so you can see where you are strong and where to focus. The report also lists concrete strengths, the top things to improve with stronger example answers, and your full transcript — which you can read in-app, download, or save as a PDF. The score is coaching feedback to help you improve, not a hiring decision.
How do coaching plans work?
A coaching plan lets you work on a skill across many sessions instead of one. Describe the areas you find difficult, and it builds an adaptive plan that goes deeper where you need it and levels you up as you improve — tracking your progress over time. Start one from Coaching plans on the home screen, and revisit any past session or plan under Your history.
Accounts, privacy & data
What data does Callback store?
Your account keeps your sessions and reports synced across your devices. Callback stores your account details and, where you consent, your interview transcripts and audio — encrypted in transit and at rest — so you can revisit sessions and track progress. What is retained is governed by your in-app settings and consent. For the full picture of what we collect, how we use it, and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Profile → Delete account, which removes it from our active systems. You can also request deletion by emailing [email protected] from the address on your account. See the Privacy Policy for retention details and your privacy rights.
Plans & billing
How much does Callback cost?
Callback is free during the beta — there are no purchases or subscriptions right now, so there is nothing to pay or refund. If we introduce paid plans in the future, the pricing and terms will be shown clearly before you are ever charged, and you will manage your plan from Settings.
Troubleshooting
The interviewer cannot hear me.
Ensure that your microphone is permitted and not muted, and that the right input device is selected under Settings → Sound → Microphone. If a browser blocked the mic, re-enable it in the site's permission settings, refresh, and start again. If you use an external mic, check it is connected before you begin.
Something went wrong mid-interview.
Reloading the page usually clears a temporary fault, and your saved sessions remain available in Your history. If a problem persists, open Settings → Copy diagnostics and paste the result into an email to us — it helps us fix it faster.
Still need help?
Email [email protected] with a description of the issue and, where relevant, your browser or macOS version and what you were doing when it happened. We typically respond within 24 hours on business days. You can also send feedback anytime from the Feedback button inside Callback.
